EL DÍA DEL JUICIO

A veces los juicios son trampas; las sentencias escandalosas llenan las páginas de los periódicos y todo el mundo enjuicia más allá de los tribunales.  Deberíamos detenernos a pensar cuál es la meta real de un juicio y cuántos estamos cualificados para emitirlo.  La próxima vez que vayamos a enjuiciar o a enjuiciarnos o que tengamos que soportar el juicio de otro sobre nosotros mismos, deberíamos recordar que los buenos juicios son los que siguen las normas de la justicia, no la necesidad de tener la razón o el poder.  Un juez ideal debe ser sabio, limpio, imparcial, severo en su compasión y compasivo en su severidad, porque no se trata de un santo que juzga o un pecador, sino de un ser humano que trata de ser justo con otro.

 

Imagina que llega el Día del Juicio y que tú mismo eres tu juez y tu jurado.  ¿Cómo te tratarías? ¿De qué faltas te acusarías? ¿Serías comprensivo y compasivo contigo mismo? ¿A qué sentencia te condenarías?  No se te olvide imaginar que la escena siempre que te sientas tentado a juzgar a otro.

THE JUDGEMENT DAY

Sometimes judgments are traps; scandalous sentences fill the pages of newspapers and everybody judges beyond the courts. We should make a stop and think which is the real goal of a judgment and how many of us are qualified to emit it. The next time we are going to judge or to judge ourselves or support the judgment of another on ourself, we would have to remember that the good judgments are those that follow the norms of justice, and not the need of being right or the power. An ideal judge must be wise, clean, impartial, severe in his compassion and compassionate in his severity, because it is not abount a saint or a sinful one, but of a human being that tryes to be fair with another one.

 

Imagine that the Day of the Judgment arrives and that you yourself are your judge and your jury. How you would treat yourself? Of what failures would you accuse yourself? Would you be comprehensive and compassionate with yourself? To what sentences would you condemn yourself?  Do not forget to imagine that scene whenever you feel tempted to judge another one.
